Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is part of a growing movement towards regionalism. Regionalism, as understood through Thomas Jefferson, is that for a community to be viable, it needs to be able to sustain itself, regardless. Local food sources, renewable energy, and clean water are cornerstones. This dictates a call of conscience to all of us.

CSA's are by definition, a means of connecting community consumers directly to their local growers. It means a mutual commitment between the two, representing both the production and the consumption of food. Farms are not grocery stores; items cannot be picked up and put back on shelves. In order for small farms to have continuity, they must know how much to plant, for how many, and when to change crops. This is dependent on a continuous relationship with their supporters. In order for such a farm to be economically viable, they must produce a quantity and diversity of produce and receive fair market value for such items.

The benefits to the consumer are many. A reliable source of fresh and fully nutritional food items, grown or produced free of chemicals or genetic modification. Products are seasonally grown, letting nature tell us what our bodies require. Encourages communication regarding, health, food safety, preparation, and a sense of home. You help support biodiversity, clean air and a sense of social responsibility and stewardship of land. You will know your farmer.

The concept of CSA here at Seabreeze Organic Farm seeks to benefit both parties. Our mild San Diego climate, affords us the ability to produce a wide range of products, specializing in vegetables (especially the greens), flowers, some fruit (trees mature more each year), herbs, and a small well-tended flock of chickens and ducks. Year round. We strive to purchase from organic growers (locally first) for a wider selection of products and for our Choose Your Own selection.

Our Green Store was assembled by testing and selecting food and household items that assist you and your family's health and well being. That means good for the Planet too.
